Feel Good: Thrive in Your Environment: 5 Tips for Finishing Your Week Strong

Today, March 4, is Employee Appreciation Day.

On this day whatever your employment situation I want to encourage you to finish your week strong then take a well-earned and deserved break over the weekend to rejuvenate and refresh.

Give Your Boss a Break.  99.9% of  all the bosses are not going to know it is Employee Appreciation Day, but if you are reading this, you do.  So today why don’t you stop by the bakery for a sweet office treat for your work group or cube mates.  Today express your appreciation for those you work with, spend a significant amount of time with, and perhaps even travel the world with.

Complete a Project.  Today would be the perfect day to complete a project that you have been diligently working on.  Set aside a few hours, or whatever is needed to focus and get this one thing done today.

Service with a Smile.  All of us who work have our own version of customers, those who utilize what we produce.  Today serve your customers with a smile, identify their needs, and ensure those needs are met.

Prepare for Next Week.  Take 30 minutes to review all that is on the agenda for next week.  What projects are you working on or deadlines are approaching?  Set up any meetings necessary.  Now review your meetings for the next two weeks.  Have you prepped for all the meetings next week?  Anything you need to do next week for that weeks meetings or the following weeks meetings.  30 minutes of prep on a Friday will make a world of difference the following Monday.

Tidy Up.  Give your work space a 10 minute spruce up before leaving today.  If you have to leave in the middle of a project, make sure it is set out with clear indications of where to start back in on Monday when you arrive fresh and ready to start a new week.

Your Simple Smile Igniter:

Finish your week strong and be an employee worthy of tremendous appreciation.  🙂

If you have other tips and techniques for finishing your week strong please share them with the other readers and I.  I may even feature your tip when I turn this post into an article.  Happy Friday 🙂

  1. Great tips, Jodi! I love “service with a smile.” It’s so simple to smile but in the rush we’re often all in, we don’t take enough time to smile at people and make eye contact. It can make such a difference in a person’s life and it’s so easy to do!

    • Yes, it does. Sometim,es it is actually just fun to see if I can get someone to slow down enough to simply make eye contact and smile while interacting with me for just a few seconds.

Excellent post. Taking 30 minutes to get yourself ready for the next week was always on my Friday to do list when I was working fulltime. I was able to go home for the weekend and leave work AT work!

    • Yes, it is all about leaving work AT work so we can live the roles of our lives fully where appropriate. I used to bring home my corporate world a lot and spend far too much of my personal time torn between the corporation and family. My productivity actually dropped, although I did not realize it until I burnt out and stopped doing it.
