The words you use are a direct reflection of what is happening within you. And the words you use have a direct impact on your conscience and subconscious thoughts. If you are making changes in your life, changing your use of words and phrases is a great place to start and consistently monitor.
I believe this is so important I have broken the list of 12 words from Debbie Friedman’s Cleaning Out the Closet of Your Mind Program into several blog posts. Every Monday for the next few weeks I am posting about the power of words with a word or phrase to eliminate, why it’s important, and some possible replacements.
This week as we eliminate the words and phrases that do not serve us, let’s consider the use of
Will keeps what you desire in the future. If you have read any of my posts on Mindfulness, we are to be living in the present. So as much as possible use current statements about current actions unless your “will” is tied to a date. Let’s face it we can not do everything at this very moment, a little planning is good when followed up with the specific action.
More powerful statements include what you are doing NOW and the actions you are taking NOW to obtain success. Or statements with a specific time frame identified. When we identify a specific time frame to do an activity we also trigger the subconscious to gather what we need and reserve the time for that event.
Here is an example:
- I will have a beautiful house.
- My home is looking more and more beautiful everyday. Today I my bedroom and mowed the lawn!
Read those statements out loud, can you hear how the first is hopeful but lacks action or even a plan? Can you hear how the later phrase is action based and relays movement toward daily achievement of the vision?
Now it’s your turn…tap the comments link below and please share with me how you have been using “will” to put off your dreams and how you will transform the phrase into one that is NOW based.
