The thoughts you have and entertain are a direct reflection of what will happen in your life. If you are making changes in your life, changing your thoughts is a critical place to start and consistently monitor.
Today I want to share some techniques to transform your thoughts from Debbie Friedman’s Cleaning Out the Closet of Your Mind Program. Every Monday for the next few weeks I am posting about the power of your thoughts and will provide you with tips on how to transform this powerful instrument.
This week let’s take a look at how to transform the subconscious mind from self-defeating thoughts to self-empowering thoughts.
If you hear your subconscious mind stating the negative about yourself…immediately repeat the opposite of this statement. Make this new statement a positive and empowering affirmation. Now say it TWICE, out loud if p0ossible. State it clearly so you hear the statement. Now everytime you hear that previous self defeating statement, follow it with this self empowered affirmation TWICE out loud.
Snap yourself out of it. Create a negative reinforcement. Place a loosely fitting rubberband on your wrist. When you hear your subconscious stating a self defeating thought, give that band a snap. Not a terribly painful one, but one that gets your subconscious’ attention and let’s it associate that self defeating thought with a painful experience. Remember, your self conscious seeks to protect you from pain. Within a few snaps your subconscious will associate that thought with pain and make it much easier to replace the thought with your self empowered affirmation.
Look yourself in the eyes. Mirror work is an incredibly powerful technique for getting you to your truth. There are probably a few reoccurring negative statements that go through your mind, and if you could break those few you would have breakthroughs in achieving real happiness and peace in your life. For those few statements, seek their opposite and create positive affirmations. Now while standing in front of a mirror and looking into your eyes, state those affirmations. Debbie states this too beautifully to reinvent, “All the negative thoughts and feelings that keep you from fulfilling your affirmation will probably surface. Let them surface and let them float away. Beneath all that ‘stuff’ is a part of you that knows the truth of the affirmation.”
Now it’s your turn…put at least one of these techniques into practice today and create at least one powerful affirmation. Share that affirmation in the comments section. There is power in writing your affirmation and reading it.
